As another season comes to a close, Dubai Opera commemorates a year of record-breaking attendance and groundbreaking performances.

The 2023-2024 season shattered previous attendance records, drawing over 250,000 people, the highest number since the venue’s opening in 2016, confirming Dubai Opera’s status as a leading cultural organisation in the Middle East.

Other season highlights include:

  • A diverse range of over 100 productions and 200 performances, spanning across opera, ballet, symphonic, musicals, and concerts.
  • The UAE premiere of the Orchestra of  Teatroalla Scala, MusicAeterna Orchestra, and Rome Opera Ballet garnered global recognition. In exciting news, the timeless musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ has made its triumphant return, captivating audiences all over again. More than 30,000 guests were in attendance, making it a historic moment as the Phantom role was performed by an Arab lead for the first time ever. Also, Matilda made its highly anticipated UAE debut, enchanting audiences of all ages.
  • Exciting new initiatives include Film Music Week, a captivating music programme that celebrates the magic of film music. Also, introducing the Dubai Opera Edition Piano by Steinway & Sons, a prestigious limited-edition piano honouring the seven emirates.
  • The Dubai Opera Studio sound system upgrade to a state-of-the-art d&b system, ensuring exceptional sound quality for every performance.
  • A new partnership with Audi, designed to enrich the country’s cultural landscape.

Reflecting on a highly successful season, Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, said, “The past season has been a testament to Dubai Opera’s role as a ‘House of Cultures,’ and we are extremely proud to have set a new attendance record. Looking ahead, Dubai Opera will begin announcing new shows for the upcoming season on June 10, with the final lineup to be revealed at a press conference on September 12.
