Dubai Science Park And Emirates Drug Establishment Convene Pharma Leaders To Advance UAE’s Healthcare Innovation And Resilience
Dubai Science Park, the region’s leading science-focused ecosystem and part of TECOM Group PJSC, convened the DSP Leadership Network Forum in partnership with Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), bringing together leaders from government, healthcare and industry to discuss pharmaceutical resilience and innovation in the UAE.
The DSP Leadership Network Forum explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration and accelerate access to innovative medical and pharmaceutical products in line with the UAE’s vision to strengthen its position as a global hub for pharmaceutical and medical industries.
The forum featured a panel discussion titled “Building an Unbreakable Chain: Pharma Resilience Across UAE’s Ecosystem,” with participation from leaders representing regulation, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical industry. Chaired by Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, the panel included Dr. Ruqaya Aqeel Al Bastaki, Medical Products Regulation Sector Lead at the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE); Sameh El Fangary, Country President – Gulf Cluster at AstraZeneca; and Dr. Heidar Arjomand, Group Chief Medical Officer at American Hospital Dubai.

Participants also discussed the UAE’s growing role as a global hub for pharmaceutical and healthcare innovation and the role of agile and streamlined regulatory framework that champions domestic R&D and accelerates patient access to innovative medical and pharmaceutical products developed in the UAE.
The discussions also highlighted examples of innovation being advanced through collaboration between regulators and industry. Companies such as AstraZeneca, part of Dubai Science Park’s life sciences community, continue to contribute to the UAE’s healthcare innovation ecosystem by helping bring advanced products to patients and supporting the country’s vision of providing world-class healthcare.
Participants highlighted the UAE’s strategic advantages as a regional logistics hub and its robust pharmaceutical supply chain, which support long-term sector growth. Participants emphasised the importance of continued alignment between regulators, manufacturers, healthcare providers and researchers in advancing pharmaceutical innovation and industry growth.
