The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 4.32% in December 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 8.33%, which reduced index by 3.40 points, Transportation dropped by 6.98%, which reduced index by 0.87 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 13.79%, which reduced index by 0.29 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 2.28%, which reduced index by 0.05 points and Communications dropped by 0.01%.

On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 0.48%, which boosted index by 0.06 points, Education increased 0.55%, which boosted index by 0.05 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased 0.66%, which boosted index by 0.04 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.71%, which boosted index by 0.03 points, Tobacco increased 0.13%, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.12%, and Health Sector increased 0.08%.

Consumer Price Index Dropped by 0.38% in December 2020

General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.38% in December 2020 compared to November 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 1.39%, which reduced index by 0.55 points, Foods and Beverages dropped by 0.37%, which reduced index by 0.0 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 0.24%.

While prices of the following sectors were increased: Transportation increased 1.65%, which boosted index by 0.17 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased 0.70%, which boosted index by 0.04 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.06%, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.03%, and Communications increased 0.03%.

Where as prices of the sectors of Tobacco, Clothing and Footwear, Health, and Education remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
