In honour of aid workers across the region and the world, U.A.E.’s Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) will participate in and sponsor Dubai’s International Humanitarian City (IHC) initiative to mark the UN World Humanitarian Day on 19 August.

Etisalat employees will be part of an awareness walk in Dubai Mall to celebrate the spirit of courage and recognise humanitarian workers who face danger to help others. The UN World Humanitarian Day was designated to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq.

Ahmed Al Hashmi, Senior Vice President of Brand and Communication at Etisalat, said, “Our objective of supporting this awareness walk goes beyond our commitment to encourage community initiatives. We consider it our responsibility and duty to come together to recognise the bravery of men and women who risk and have lost their lives to provide for the needy. We will also be participating in the walk as our contribution to raise awareness about the importance of humanitarian action world over.” Etisalat’s social responsibility program includes a number of initiatives in areas of education, health, environment and social empowerment.
