Exploring “Identity” At Akram Dost Baloch’s Solo Art Exhibition
Studio Seven Art Gallery is set to host the Award winning Artist, Akram Dost Baloch’s Solo Exhibition, themed “Identity” in Dubai; the show opens on Tuesday 7th till 9th of January 2020.
The celebrated Pakistani Artist Akram Dost Baloch, is a graduate of National College of Arts, Lahore and currently based in Quetta where he runs his studio and chairs The Institute of Fine Arts at University of Balochistan. The prominent themes in his paintings and sculptors have been dominated by his passion for human rights and the traditional motifs of Balochistan. He is a recipient of Pakistan’s President’s Pride of Performance award in 2004 and most recently was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Karachi Biennial 2019.
“This show will focus on the search for identity; to some extent I have tried to portray my culture and tradition whether it be the embroidery or the appearances. This is my personal attempt to chronicle human experience in an age in which apathy, detachment, and spiritual absence have the potential to mute our best insights. My recent body of work aims to express social, political and economic anxieties prevalent in our society” says Akram Dost Baloch.
Akram Dost Baloch enjoys a large international fan following, with his work praised and valued globally; he has been hosted in countries including France, China, Turkey and now is set to come to the UAE this January at Studio Seven Art Gallery in Dubai.
