‘Flowers’: An Exhibition Of Self Discovery By Mawaheb’s Eldest Artist
Mawaheb from Beautiful People (Mawaheb), a Dubai-based, non-profit art studio for the determined ones from 16 years and above, is delighted to reveal the launch of the solo exhibition ‘Flowers’ by its eldest artist, Rekha Kriplani, which took place on 22 January, 5 – 7pm, at Fann A Porter.
Rekha is 63 years old, who was sheltered for the majority of her life and learned to cope with her disabilities on her own in order to understand and embrace her innate talents. Rekha joined Mawaheb following the death of her parents and arrival in Dubai from India in 2016 and has found enjoyment and release in drawing; she has only recently been able to sit and focus in the studio for extended periods.
The transformation from a static to an active artist was immense and life-changing for her. From blank canvases impeded by anxiety, bouquets now bloom from the surfaces. Gradually, Rekha was encouraged to explore colour and the use of paint, which has allowed her imagination to unleash on the canvas.
Mawaheb is proud to be consistently supporting its artists through galleries and exhibitions that display their work and put their talents front and centre. ‘Flowers’ will run until Thursday, 30 January.
