Giving Back While Saving Energy: Schneider Electric Has Set Up Two Solar-Powered Ramadan Sharing Fridges In The UAE
As part of their celebrations for the month of Ramadan, Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation has set up solar-powered fridges placed in two locations in Dubai, UAE – Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (DTEC) and Ras Al Khor. This community driven initiative was launched in partnership with Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS, Pilani), Aikah Establishment and Luminous to give back to the society in the spirit of the holy month.
Resonating with our slogan ‘Life is On’, the main purpose of solar powered sharing fridges is to benefit the neighboring community workers, for the entire month. The initiative also aims at promoting sustainable social inclusion, encouraging community service and binding Schneider employees with common moral goals. Over 500 Schneider employees are committed to this initiative ensuring the fridges are constantly stocked with food and drink and made available for those in need to pick up when they break their fast.
Natalja Kissina, Vice President – Human Resources at Schneider Electric commented, “At Schneider Electric, we believe in the importance of collaboration and giving back to the communities we operate in and what better time to do that than Ramadan. The Ramadan sharing fridge is a great initiative with a divine cause that will go a long way in promoting the culture we are constantly striving to build in our organization, keeping people and the community’s well-being at the forefront.”
This initiative is a result of joint efforts between Schneider Electric and its partners. While Aikah provided components of the fridge including inverters, Luminous provided solar panels that can transform solar energy to power and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani finally assembled the parts.
“Reflecting our vision as a business to build a sustainable world using technology, we have created with the help of our esteemed partners environment friendly solar-powered sharing fridges. We are also immensely grateful for the support of our partners who have made significant contributions in making this initiative possible by providing components to the assembly of the fridges and working hand in hand with us.”, added Kissina.
