In celebration of the creativity shown by the artists participating in the ‘Arts in Public Transport’ initiative launched by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority in cooperation with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, visited the Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park metro stations, two of the stations showcasing the artworks participating in the initiative. ‘Arts in Public Transport’ was launched as part of the Public Transport Day activities launched on 1 November under the theme ‘Together to Expo 2020 Dubai.’

The ‘Arts in Public Transport’ initiative aims to make arts and culture accessible to everyone, support the cultural and creative sector in Dubai, and provide an opportunity for talents, whether citizens or residents to launch initiatives and ideas that contribute to cementing Dubai’s position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. The artworks are on display at several metro stations, namely the Expo 2020, Dubai Mall, Jebel Ali, Dubai Investment Park and Al Ghubaiba stations.

Badri was briefed on the latest and most poignant artistic and cultural works created by talented artists in the emirate, starting her visit at the Jebel Ali metro station to see live paintings and polaroid installations by Mai Majdy, Faisal Alrais, Mohammad Aldhaheri, and Mohammed Alblooshi.

Badri then visited the Dubai Investment Park metro station to view the several works on display, covering calligraphy, live painting, and polaroid installations, with the participation ofDr Jassim Alawadhi, Tawfeeq Zakaria, and Ahmad Aldosari, in addition to sculptural digital art pieces made in collaboration with ARHEAD, a company specialising in augmented reality-based digital art.

Dubai Culture nurtures creative talents and supports cultural diversity in the emirate, which contributes to empowering the cultural and creative sector as a tributary of the local economy. Dubai Culture’s vision stems from its strategic roadmap, which is in line with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy that aims to make the emirate the global capital of the creative economy.
