Written by Meral Okay and Yilmaz Şahin, the Hareem Al Sultan TV series evokes the historic tale of the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire – Sultan Suleiman, known as Suleiman the Magnificent. Portraying his conquests on the battlefield, the narrative also captures his love for Huyam, a slave girl who became his wife and sultana. Mounted on a grand scale, the show drew huge viewership for its visual spectacle, exquisite costume designs, strong cast and exemplary performances.

Produced by the Istanbul Entertainment Group, the CITY WALK exhibition recreates the popular series and provides visitors with a historical glimpse of the period, known to those familiar with Turkish history as the Magnificent Century. Taking visitors on a tour through the Topkapi Palace, the exhibition offers them an opportunity to explore the artistry and craftsmanship involved in creating the props and costumes for the series.

Spread across 1,300 square metres, the venue features 14 unique rooms offering a total sensory experience. The décor, costumes and accessories provide a visual and tactile treat, while the aroma of fascinating scents transports the guests to a bygone era.

Enriching the overall experience is a statuary display of the show’s popular characters, which recently added three new life-like silicone sculptures of Sultana Fatma, Queen Mother and Abu Saud Efendi alongside introducing a new sculpture of Mustafa. The additions expand the current number of sculptures, painstakingly created by hand one at a time, to 17.

The exclusive gift shop stocks a collection of over 200 specially designed pieces inspired by the TV show, ranging from apparel, jewellery and accessories to exclusive scents, kaftans and stationery. Available now at the store are also gift hampers, ranging in price from AED555 to AED1,955, that encompass an assortment of items including Turkish delight, Pargali notebooks, brass ornaments, evil eye beads, natural stone coasters, gold-plated kaftans, candles, coffee sets and ornate jewellery.

Hareem Al Sultan: The Exhibition is open at CITY WALK seven days a week from 12 noon to 10pm. Priced at AED95 for adults and AED40 for children aged 7-14, tickets are available for purchase at the venue or online on www.ticketmaster.ae at a 10% discount.
