A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai and the International Humanitarian City (IHC) to develop the mechanism and guidelines for local fundraising and humanitarian campaigns, and ensure charitable activities in Dubai are supervised in line with the rules and regulations of the emirate.

The MoU was signed by Executive Director of IACAD Mr. Jumaa Obaid Al Falasi, and IHC CEO Ms. Shaima Al Zarooni.
Mr. Al Falasi emphasized that the department strives to develop the charitable work sector along with the related institutions, as the sector itself represents a focal value in the UAE community.

The IHC is the world’s largest humanitarian aid hub, as well as the most effective and busiest logistics center for humanitarian aid with nine UN agencies, and over 50 international NGOs and commercial entities as members.

With the significant role played by IACAD in managing the charitable activities as well as supervision of bank transactions in accordance with the provisions of the law in Dubai and abroad; the MoU will enable the coordination of the two parties in offering legal licensing for humanitarian organizations at the IHC, in addition to overseeing the campaigns and charitable activities carried out in order to enhance efficiency and transparency for both the donors and the recipients of donations.

“By signing the Memorandum of Understanding, we are delighted to make our collaboration with IACAD stronger, and work alongside our partner in licensing and supervising IHC’s humanitarian organizations’ activities in the emirate, to ensure the utmost proficiency and transparency which are core values that we share,” said IHC CEO Shaima Al Zarooni. “IHC’s member organizations have been succeeding in their humanitarian work through Dubai’s administrative expertise and support, and we are thankful and pleased to establish our partnership with IACAD and further promote developmental and humanitarian work from Dubai to the world,” she added.
