in5 Announces ‘Tech For Good’ Challenge Winners
in5, a startup incubator and an enabling platform for entrepreneurs, announced the winners of its Tech for Good Challenge that took place during Gitex Future Stars 2019. The competition revolved around innovative tech-based business ideas aimed at tackling the world’s social, health, environmental and economic challenges.
Selected from over 70 submissions, nine finalist teams presented their ideas to a panel of judges on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2019. The judging panel consisted of Ammar Al Malik, Managing Director of Dubai Internet City, PK Gulati, an angel investor and serial entrepreneur, Siddarth Dalamal, Head of Investor Relations at Eureeca, and Wissam Younane, CEO of BNC Publishing.
The first place honours, along with an AED10,000 cash prize and in5 membership, went to Team Witsense that designed smart wearable technology in the form of garments with discreet sensors for children of determination. Meanwhile, Team AzaadHealth came second, and Team Hala Home earned the third place. Each of the three winning teams also receives a fully paid exhibit pod by in5 at the next major startup event – the Step Conference – taking place in February 2020.
Gitex Future Stars provided a solid platform for startups to showcase their innovations and creativity in line with in5’s efforts to foster innovation, develop aspiring talent and nurture a vibrant community dedicated to startups and entrepreneurs.
