in5, a startup incubator founded by TECOM Group, announced a 27-hour ‘Blockchain Challenge’ hackathon, inviting tech enthusiasts to address a practical real-life challenge. Divided into teams, participants will be challenged to build and present functioning prototypes, leveraging blockchain technology.

Powered by Oracle, a global leader in innovative technologies, and a key contributor in the regional digital transformation journey, the in5 Blockchain Challenge Hackathon is hosted in collaboration with Dubai Internet City as a strategic partner, and Emirates NBD as an enterprise partner. In line with the Dubai Blockchain Strategy that seeks to transform 50 per cent of government transactions by 2020, the hackathon seeks to identify and foster local talent and support them in creating innovative solutions, in addition to bridging the gap between the government, enterprise and academia .

About: The in5 ‘Blockchain Challenge’ Hackathon – powered by Oracle will give you the opportunity to solve a unique real-life challenge faced in the enterprise world. You will network with like-minded people and learn from blockchain experts who will support you to make your idea a success. In the final round, all teams will pitch their prototypes to a panel of judges and stand a chance to win valuable cash and in-kind prizes.

Date and Time: From 10am on 27 September 2019 until 5pm on 28 September 2019

Location: in5 Tech, Dubai Internet City

Prizes: The top three winning teams will receive cash and in-kind rewards from in5 and Oracle, including a complimentary in5 membership.

Teams: Each team should have three to five members. in5 will help allocate individuals to form teams, participants must email on events@in5.ae to be matched with other members.

Deadline: Registration closes on 11 September 2019.

Pre-requisite:  All the participants must attend a mandatory pre-hackathon workshop on 18 September 2019 from 3pm to 5pm. The informative session will familiarize participants with Oracle’s cloud services, and provide them with access to the Hyperledger Fabric based cloud platform that will be used for the hackathon. During the event, individuals who registered without a team will have the chance to be assigned to a team. The session will also be broadcasted online for those who cannot attend in person.
