Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), unveiled a training programme for female employees. This initiative is part of a broader collaboration with local educational institutions that take leading roles in offering leadership development training programmes.

Athari Mohammed, Director of Human Resources and Development, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, RTA, said: “RTA is ramping up its commitment to women’s empowerment through taking practical measures that yield substantive positive outcomes. Moreover, RTA is keen to foster a conducive and empowering work environment for women to qualify them for leadership roles and enhance their capacity to make significant achievements in line with the UAE’s National Strategy for Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship.

“The programme is structured to impart practical skills compatible with the current demands of the job market. Spanning 70 hours, the training encompasses three phases: an awareness stage, where participants gain essential knowledge; a practical training stage, featuring workshops and practical lectures conducted by seasoned experts and professional trainers; and a follow-up stage, offering support and guidance to the participants.

“15 female employees from various agencies and sectors of the RTA have been nominated to participate in the programme. The sessions will be conducted both in-person at RTA’s Talent Development Centre and remotely via the HBMSU Smart Platform. Graduates will get Leadership Achievement certificates,” added Athari.

Athba Al Kamdah, Vice Chancellor, Institutional Resources and Services at HBMSU, said: “The University is looking forward to welcoming participants and providing them with an innovative educational experience. The University is committed to embracing cutting-edge technologies and educational methodologies that facilitate learning anytime and from anywhere, thereby enriching the students’ educational journey and equipping them to tackle future challenges.

“HBMSU is proud to collaborate with RTA in launching the ‘Inspiring Leaders’ programme, which is designed to empower women, support their career development, and enhance their leadership capabilities. The university holds a firm belief that education is the cornerstone of a robust society and is dedicated to delivering educational programmes that help women fulfil their professional and personal aspirations.

“Through this ‘Inspiring Leaders’ programme, the University aims to foster an educational atmosphere that promotes critical thinking and innovation, focusing on cultivating the necessary skills and knowledge for leadership roles across various domains. The university attaches high importance to building strategic partnerships with both governmental and private entities to promote sustainable education and support the role of women in society,” added Al Kamdah.

At the planning stage of the programme, RTA was keen to communicate with HBMSU to ensure that the details of the programme align with the desired objectives. RTA regularly collaborates with renowned universities to implement and enhance training programmes and is keen to ensure that such programmes are in harmony with its strategic objectives of Future Readiness.
