Jumeirah Group And Dubai Cares Launch Charitable Initiative For Ramadan
Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hotel company and a member ofDubai Holding, has announced it will donate AED 10 per room night sold to Dubai Cares during Ramadan 2015.
The funds will be used to support Dubai Cares’ programmes aimed at providing quality primary education to children in developing countries.
The donation will apply for every room night booked during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr at six of Jumeirah’s hotels in Dubai. Participating hotels include Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Jumeirah Al Qasr, Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf and Jumeirah Mina A’Salam at Madinat Jumeirah.
This initiative by the Jumeirah Group complements the Dubai Cares ‘We Can Teach Each Other’ Ramadan campaign 2015, which emphasises the abundance of talent and resourcefulness among children in developing countries, as well as the responsibility of the international community to help empower these children through education.
Gerald Lawless, President and Group CEO, Jumeirah Group, said: “It is most appropriate that Jumeirah Group should engage with Dubai Cares to assist children in the developing world. Jumeirah’s 11,000 colleagues in Dubai come from many developing nations and I believe that this initiative reflects the generous spirit of the United Arab Emirates and, indeed, of Dubai.”
Speaking about the role corporate donors play in achieving the organisation’s mandate, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said: “We are very grateful to the Jumeirah Group for prompting their guests to invest in our programmes, thus giving young, eager children the gift of education. The UAE corporate sector has been generous while donating towards our programmes as they understand, first-hand, the impact education can have on professional and personal advancement. Education has the power to unlock the potential of individuals; it can grant them a voice and make them strong contributors to national growth. By placing education front and center, the Jumeirah Group has not only put a spotlight on the impact it can create, but also demonstrated how meaningful corporate responsibility should transcend national and cultural boundaries.”
Over the past seven years, Dubai Cares, with the support of the UAE community, has been facilitating change and development in children’s education in developing communities around the globe. The organisation is currently reaching 13 million beneficiaries in 39 developing countries.
