Layla Kardan, internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, continues her mission to break regional stereotypes by announcing the launch of her first scintillating venue, Papillon at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina.

Putting passion into practice, Papillon will be a compelling, exploratory performance and dining experience, co-created by Layla Kardan and globally renowned, international collaborators such as award-winning Choreographer and Dancer Denise Faye, who will take the reins on creative direction and choreography. Denise has won many awards for her choreography including Academy Award Winning feature film Chicago, hit Hollywood film Nine with Fergie and Daniel Day-Lewis and Burlesque featuring Christina Aguilera and Cher. Continuing her work with Cher, Denise directed and choreographed her “Dressed 2 Kill” and “Classic Cher” world tours and Las Vegas residency. Her enormous list of accolades includes aiding actors such as Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Anniston, Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the art of movement, working on legendary Broadway hits and major Hollywood films. Other prominent industry names joining the Papillon project include, Roham Shamkeh, famed Architect and Interior Designer, known for his work with brands such as Roberto Cavalli and Versace. Roham will create the décor for the venue, channeling a distinct, elegant yet edgy atmosphere.

In a performance of luminescence and sensuality, Papillon will take guests on a titillating journey, with a series of skilled and talented international performers fromNew York, Paris, Milan and Argentina. Through an epic tale of splendor and romance, Papillon will cultivate the true essence of daring creativity and a fashion-forward escape from reality,with a provocative story line that perfectly encapsulates the flight of the female. Papillon will open in partnership with luxury lingerie brandBordelle, known for its unique and niche collections. Atelier Bordellewill design custom hand-made pieces exclusively for the cast.

Papillon will be an experience that enchants its audience with the highest caliber of arts, style, and fine dining. Head Chef Tiger will join Papillon, having been trained at the 2-star Michelin Joel Robuchon in Taipei, to then become the Sous Chef of Atelier Joel Robuchon, Dubai. Chef Tiger has bought his team over from the 2-star Michelin Robuchon Taipei to be part of the Papillon dining team. The menu will be created with an artistic eye, plates of edible stories and French Mediterranean flavors. Dinner at Papillon will be a fine dining, tumble of tastes, with diners able to choose from the tasting menu or the a la carte offering, served throughout the performance.

Having Denise Faye at the helm of this project has been the greatest blessing. I have always been a fan of her incredible work and performances in Chicago and Burlesque and now I get to work alongside her, which is also a dream come true. Words cannot express the deep respect and adoration I have for her. She is the most professional woman I have ever worked with.

When we initially started talking about this project there were limited dinner-and-show concepts available in town. Seeing so many sprout up makes me very happy – I feel there is more of an appetite for a theatrical night out, and as an artist, this is healthy for the industry.

What we are doing here is special – we have a story to tell and a message that rings loud and clear – without divulging too much, I encourage everyone to come and experience first-hand the incredible talent we have gracing the stage and of course me, waiting for all the amazing people who support me consistently on my music journey, from venue to venue.
