Majed launches Arab Library portal
WAM Abu Dhabi, 17th March 2009 (WAM) — HH Sheikh Majed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, launched today the Arab Library at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
The imitative is the first Arab portal for Arab book and was designed mainly to facilitate access to printed materials in the Arab World.
Sheikh Majed launched the project during a visit to the stand of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
Designed by Microsoft, the interactive Arab Library portal features more than 1194 titles, 4081 biographies, 500 reviews of well-known books and seven dictionaries.
The portal is part of the Foundation’s strategy to create a solid foundation for spreading internet-based knowledge and boosting Arab culture.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Sheikh Majed where they discussed issues related to the book fair and participation of the Foundation in it.
