NBA Launches First Year-Long NBA Basketball School Program In The Middle East
The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced the launch of the first year-long NBA Basketball School in Dubai. This will be hosted at both Dubai British School in Jumeirah Park and Swiss International Scientific School in Jaddaf, starting September 15th.
The NBA basketball school, partnered with Stryx Sports, the UAE’s leading sports provider, will open for boys and girls ages 6-18 years. The comprehensive curriculum covers weekly on court training, strength and conditioning, and basketball education for young players under the tutelage of NBA Basketball School coaching staff. NBA Basketball School is unique in its approach based on “the NBA way” of developing players in a structured program and environment focused on skill development and promoting positive values such as integrity, teamwork, respect and determination.

As part of the existing partnership with the NBA and Stryx Sports two camps were held in Dubai in March and June 2019, under the NBA Basketball School umbrella featuring over 300 boys and girls. With today’s announcement, the program will expand to offer the first year-long NBA Basketball School in the region.
“Following the success of our two previous camps, we are thrilled to be announcing the next stage in the program as we launch our first year-round NBA Basketball School,” said NBA Associate Vice President of Basketball Operations, Europe and Middle East, Neal Meyer. “We look forward to further developing the talented young boys and girls in Dubai as we build a pathway for the next generation of players from the region.”
“We are very proud to be part of launching the first NBA Basketball School in the Middle East” said CEO of Stryx Sports Seif Tawfik. “Our team is very excited to start interacting with all the great talent available in Dubai and help them nourish their passion.”
The NBA Basketball School curriculum, which is designed to develop players and provide parents, coaches and organizations a better understanding of the process of improvement, has been developed by the NBA’s Elite Basketball Development team in consultation with current and former NBA coaches, NBA players, and player development experts. The new initiative adds an additional layer to the NBA’s existing basketball development efforts, including the Jr. NBA, Basketball Without Borders (BWB) and NBA Academies.
