The Pink Caravan, breast cancer awareness initiative of Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP) has taken a group of five breast cancer patients on an exciting aerial journey over Dubai in partnership with the Seawings Seaplane Tours on 16 October 2019.

The fun, uplifting activity coincides the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and has left its attendees with invigorated minds and a renewed spirit to continue strongly on their treatment journey. The charter flight took off from Dubai Creek and took the group over iconic landmarks of the emirate – Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame and the World Islands, among others.

The programme has been designed as part of Pink Caravan’s mission to raise awareness on the importance of early detection through regular check-ups, and also furthers their mother entity FOCP’s efforts to work on improving the mental health and holistic wellbeing of cancer patients on their challenging treatment journey.

The event helped raise awareness amongst other Seawings guests, as well as in select Dubai neighbourhoods, which watched the seaplane branded with the Pink Caravan logo fly past.

The Pink Caravan-branded Seawings seaplane will be flying over Dubai throughout October to show support for survivors and patients during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as the ‘Pink Month’. All guests flying with Seawings will receive pink ribbons at their check-in areas. Seawings will also be distributing these ribbons to their employees and visitors at all their office locations.

Other initiatives under this partnership between PC and Seawings will include conducting awareness sessions for a large community in the Seawings network where experts will share information about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

Dr Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General of FOCP and Head of Pink Caravan’s Medical and Awareness Committee said, “Finding out you have cancer can be overwhelming and life-changing and the added stress of the appearance-related side effects of treatment can be demoralising and very hard to cope with. That is why FOCP focuses on a variety of moral support events such as Color My World which helps in empowering both patients and survivors. FOCP’s encourages such partnership and we look forward to continuing this programme and hosting all our cancer warriors to enjoy this wonderful trip done by Seawings.

Stuart Wheeler, CEO of Seawings Seaplane Tours said, “As we battle to win the fight against cancer, Seawings feels privileged to partner with Friends of Cancer Patients and The Pink Caravan in our endeavour to raise awareness of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting women and in some rare cases, even men. If is detected early enough, chances of survival can go as high as 98% and that is our message to all of our guest through the month of October. Seawings is creating the awareness so our guests that range from all corners of the globe, do not ignore simple steps that will detect signs in the early stages.

During the month of October, you are likely to see our Seawings aircraft in the Dubai skies sporting Pink Ribbons in support of the cause.”

With roots in UAE for the past 12 years, Seawings is passionate about the local community and has always been mindful of contributing towards worthy initiatives for its support and development. Seawings enters a special milestone this month by forging a long term relationship with Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP), a non-profit organisation based in the UAE. FOCP has worked tirelessly over two decades to help cancer patients and their families navigate the long and arduous journey of cancer treatment by offering moral and financial support, and Seawings commits to helping them further with their goal.
