The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced that the 98th Open Auction for Distinctive Number Plates held a couple of days ago in the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club had yielded AED19.918 million for selling 80 plates. Five plates accounted for the majority of sale proceeds in the session, which witnessed intense participation of registered bidders from various community segments.

“The proceeds of the 98th Open Auction, which topped AED19.918 million, is indicative of the remarkable attention of this sort of business activity organised by the RTA. Plate (W 22) was the sales topper fetching AED2.62 million followed by (T 32), which brought back AED1.68 million. Plate (T 88888) was sold for AED710 thousand, slightly ahead of (R 66666) exchanged for AED670 thousand. Plate (T 400) was knocked down at AED500 thousand. Other eye-catching plates on offer shared the remainder of the total revenues,” said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency.

“The number plate auctions held by RTA are transparent, full of zest and live up to the expectations of clients in this regard. They avail clients a prestige that forms part of their exclusive personalities. They also give them the esteem of owning such fancy plates; which concurs with RTA efforts to realise its 3rd Strategic Goal (People Happiness),” he added.
