In the spirit of collaboration, Silsal launches a limited edition collection designed by students at Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI). The contemporary set of three Arabic coffee cups, each designed by a different student, sheds light on the delicate duality of art and function, past and present.

Samar Habayeb, Silsal’s Creative Director and CEO, is an active participant in Dubai’s evolving design community. Inspired by her own experience as a design entrepreneur, she launched the project as a platform for the younger generation to showcase their talent, vision and skill. The collaboration will introduce students to the professional design process, and what it takes to adapt a concept into a real-life product that people can use, and enjoy. Plus, 10% of sales will be donated to DIDI’s scholarship fund.

For Silsal, the project presents an opportunity to contribute to both the local design community and the country’s youth – the next generation of designers, artists and makers – whilesimultaneously embracing the emirate’s diversity and spirit of innovation. Samar Habayeb says: “The collection is a celebration of the unexpected beauty that can arise from collaboration. At the same time, it explores the UAE’s ancient heritage of coffee, and all its traditions. Coffee is where friendships are forged, dreams shared and stories told, and we believe that coffee cups are a beautiful medium to introduce the artists of tomorrow.”
