Dubai Design District (d3), the Middle East’s premier creative platform dedicated to design, is getting ready for the region’s premier culture and lifestyle festival, Sole DXB. Dedicated to presenting the best of contemporary street culture, the event will revolve around fashion, music, film, visual arts and sport.

Following its inaugural edition in 2010, attendance to Sole DXB has grown significantly year on year, with the 2018 edition attracting over 28,500 visitors. This year, the event will come alive with Jamaican sights and sounds, celebrating the island country’s rich history of street music and dance genres, including rocksteady, dub, reggae, ska, and dancehall.

d3 will also launch an exciting new activation to the event – the d3 Marketplace, an independent area hosting 13 breakout designers from Australia, Nigeria, South Africa, Russia, the Netherlands, Jordan, the UAE, and India, set to showcase their latest collections and products. The list of participating brands will feature Vent, Azra, One and Four Studio, Tania George, Jungles Jungles, Leaf Apparel, Xzavier Zulu, SELFI, WAFFLESNCREAM, RECONSTRUCT Collective, SIX5SIX, as well as Liars Collective and Dopeclvbworld, both presented by Faces&Laces.

Among other highlights of Sole DXB 2019 will be the Sole Sneaker Swap, a popular fixture of the event since its inaugural edition, and the Sole Ball Above All Classic, the region’s most competitive streetball tournament.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Executive Director of d3, said: “Since the beginning of our strategic partnership with Sole DXB in 2014, we have witnessed the remarkable growth and evolution of the event that has brought some of the world’s leading creators and drivers of modern street culture to Dubai. This year will see 12 of d3’s business partners participating in the engaging festival. Sole DXB represents a meeting place for all the influences in street art and culture that have inspired global lifestyle trends.”

She added: “Through the addition of the d3 Marketplace this year, we aim to support independent design talent from across the world. We see Sole DXB as the perfect platform to give visibility to these artists and designers and provide them with access to a larger international clientele.”

Participating d3 partners will include adidas Originals, PUMA, Reebok, Farfetch, Kenzo, FRAME, Tumi, Burberry, Birkenstock, The Lighthouse, Molecule, and Akiba Dori.
