The number of men dying before their time is on the rise. Males face mental and physical illnesses with no one to turn to because society teaches men to mask their emotions.

As part of Movember Awareness, the wellness studio INSPIRE is hosting a “Talking it out” event on Saturday, 6 November at 5 PM, Gate Avenue, DIFC, to motivate men to take action for their health and speak up.

Each year, in November, millions of men grow moustaches to promote awareness of issues facing men, such as mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate cancer.

Globally, a man takes his own life every minute. Often, men, regardless of their age, do not recognize when they are experiencing a mental health issue, and they are reticent to ask for help. Prostate cancer is the second-most common cancer among men. Over 1.3 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and testicular cancer is one of the most common cancers among men aged 15 to 35.

A panel of experts will speak at the event, including urology specialist Dr Rabih Madi, psychologist Reem Shaheen, and nutritionist Faisal Shawa. Topics include prostate and testicular cancer cases, their impact on relationships, treatment side effects, mental illness, men’s vulnerability, and nutrition. Mint Basil Market, one of the event partners, curated the panel.

The discussion will last 45 minutes, followed by a “Bro-yoga” class – yoga for men. Instead of physically demanding yoga postures like the handstand, flying crow, or doing two-minute planks, the class focuses on gentle stretching, including deep breathing techniques, to help participants relax, raise their body awareness, and improve their flexibility and balance. The class is not exclusive to men; ladies can also join in support of this cause.

Also, INSPIRE is running a social contest where participants are encouraged to showcase their stylish moustaches on all their social media accounts and tag INSPIRE. There will be two winners selected at the event for special prizes, including ten yoga classes worth AED 1000, along with other giveaways.

Furthermore, the first 50 participants will receive an eco-friendly yoga mat provided by American Rag Cie. The event will also include healthy snacks from Mint Basil Market and Circle Café and DNA Wellness vouchers.

It’s FREE to attend, but you must register in advance since the space is limited to 100 people.
