Thailand Set To Unveil New ‘Digital Thailand’ Concept And Cutting-Edge Sustainable Innovations At Expo 2020 Dubai, Whilst Entering Visitors With Awe-Inspiring Shows, Cultural Activations And Delicious Cuisine
With less than two months to go until the much-anticipated launch of Expo 2020 Dubai, Thailand has revealed a sneak peek inside its beautiful pavilion.
Hosted under the theme of ‘Connecting minds, creating the future’, the groundbreaking, awe-inspiring global gathering offers an enriching experience unlike anything the Middle East has ever seen. Taking advantage of this unique opportunity, Thailand intends to use Expo 2020 to forge new connections and make significant steps towards creating a more sustainable future.
Bringing its biggest Expo Pavilion in 150 years to the UAE from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, the nation will use this dynamic world stage to explain the concept behind ‘Digital Thailand’, its technologically driven, economic vision. For Thailand’s participation in the World Expo 2020 Dubai, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has assigned the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) as the body responsible for the nation’s representation. Primarily organised by Index Creative Village, Thailand’s top creative company, UAE-based consultancy OP3 Expo and contractors Arcade Star, the Pavilion will provide an inspiring environment for discussion and collaboration. Inside the magnificent space, visitors from across the globe are invited to exchange ideas, and discuss how innovation and digital technology can boost the economy or even improve society as a whole.
As well connecting Thailand to the rest of the world, the Pavilion aims to showcase the full wonder of authentic Thai culture. The space is filled with colour, beautiful decor and charm, providing each visitor with the most welcoming reception imaginable. Hoping to befriend everyone they encounter, the ‘Miracle of Smiles’ pavilion has pulled out all the stops to create an uplifting and enlightening journey through the true essence of Thailand.
Visually striking in every sense, the Pavilion will be covered with 500 artificial Thai ‘good luck’ flowers, with each carefully interwoven to represent the nation’s continuous growth and development. These beautiful blooms will also be celebrated every evening with the DOK RAK Light and Sound Show.
Meanwhile, the daily Thai Iconic shows fuse past and present traditions together in spectacular fashion. Thai Fighting celebrates the amazing power of Muay Thai boxing, Thai Rhythm explores the beauty of art, music and dance across the nation’s diverse regions and, finally, Thai Miracle invites spectators to witness a majestic, “Khon” moving royal dance that’s now listed by UNESCO World Heritage.
Renowned across the world for its colourful, flavoursome, and aromatic cuisine, mealtimes at the Thailand Pavilion are a momentous occasion. “The Taste of Thai” will be serving up a sumptuous array of regional favourites, including pad thai, chicken satay, massaman curry, tom yum goong soup and more, with each dish created by Dubai’s own Little Bangkok restaurant. Furthermore, the Thai Souk offers the perfect place to purchase handcrafted souvenirs, including gifts, cosmetics and accessories from Vega Intertrade & Exhibitions Co.
In addition, guests are invited to experience the best of Thai culture, business and technology through the Pavilion’s six-month programme of special events. Highlights include Thai Authentic Food & Health Week, Thai National Day, Thailand Digital and Innovation Festival and the Festival of Happiness. The Thailand Pavilion Ambassadors, who have each been specially selected for their talents and skills, will also add to the Pavilion’s personalised charm.
Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy & Society (MEDS), and the Commissioner General of Section for Thailand Pavilion said: “Myself and Team Thailand are exceptionally excited to present our future plans and connect with the rest of the world at Expo 2020. We are entirely committed to creating a strong and sustainable environment for future generations to enjoy, and by showcasing and celebrating our achievements, we hope to demonstrate that there really is no limit to what can be accomplished. I’m so proud to present our multi-talented ambassadors, who each give our Pavilion a personal touch and also our Thai Pavilion mascots, Rak and Mali, who will be popping up and around the city in the lead up to Expo 2020. We wholeheartedly look forward to seeing you all in Dubai very soon.”
