The Dubai Police General Command has added luxury Italian automaker Maserati’s sports coupe, the GranTurismo, from the brand’s official UAE importer-dealer Al Tayer Motors to its fleet of luxury patrol cars.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, inaugurated the Maserati GranTurismo at the Dubai Police headquarters, in the presence of Major Major General Dr. Al Salal Saeed bin Huwaidi Al Falasi, Assistant Commandant for Administration Affairs; Mr. Jad Elias, Vice President Sales – Maserati at Al Tayer Motors; Mr. Domenico La Marte, General Manager, Maserati Middle East and Africa, and Dr. Mubarak Saeed Benawas Al-Kutbi, Director of the Tourist Police Department.

Major General Al Marri received a detailed handover of the car including a description about the specifications of the Maserati GranTurismo, equipped with a 4.7-liter, 460-hp V8 engine.

Major General Al Marri praised the close co-operation with Al Tayer Motors, one of the UAE’s leading automobile companies. He emphasised that by the introduction of sports cars within its fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, the General Directorate of Dubai Police is seeking to enhance the security presence of police officers in important tourist destinations such as Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), and other areas while simultaneously modernising and upgrading the vehicles used by Dubai Police.

“Al Tayer Motors is one of the UAE’s leading automotive dealerships with a wide range of luxury brands and we are pleased to continue our support to the futuristic vision of Dubai Police in providing innovative services and support to residents and visitors in the city,” said Jad Elias.

The engine in the GranTurismo – true to its red-blooded racing pedigree – provides sharp throttle response, free-revving character and a unique, soul-stirring Maserati soundtrack.

“Over the years, the GranTurismo has evolved into one of the most iconic Maserati cars ever built, thanks to its uncompromised GT character, perfectly expressed by a uniquely compelling combination of bold yet elegant design; the exhilarating, inspirational performance of a naturally aspirated V8 engine,” said Domenico La Marte.

Lt. Col. Dr. Mubarak Said Salem Benawas Al Kutbi confirmed that the Maserati GranTurismo is a new addition to the luxury patrol fleet in the luxury vehicles Department of Dubai Police. He said that the addition of the Maserati GranTurismo increases the number of luxury patrol vehicles within the Dubai Police fleet to 15 sports cars.

Furthermore, he said that the Maserati GranTurismo will be used around tourist attractions and areas. Dubai Police will provide various services to the public and tourists such as police information, advice as well as introducing the role of the Dubai Police community.
