The Most Popular F&B Products Sold During Ramadan
Spinneys Dubai has revealed the products that see a soar in sales during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Sales of the Ramadan-staple, hummus, increase by almost 20 tonnes from 6.5 tonnes per week to a mammoth 25 tonnes during Ramadan. Spinneys produces its hummus locally and will be importing approximately three tonnes of chickpeas per week from Italy.
Watermelons are also set to fly off the shelves with an estimated increase in sales of around 300 per cent and an estimated total of 100 tonnes of the hydrating fruit due to sell during the month.
No Iftar is complete without an array of delectable desserts and the Spinneys Honey Cake, which is already a best seller, has become increasingly popular during Ramadan. The delicious handmade cake will see an increase of almost 250 per cent in daily sales this year.
To mark the Holy Month, the locally-owned supermarket chain has introduced an exciting new range of limited edition products to its stores. One of the new products that features in the range is the Guaccumus (avocado hummus). The new flavour has proved to be a hit with customers, resulting in Spinneys importing around 6 tonnes of avocado during the month of Ramadan to produce it.
Traditionally, Muslims break their fast with light, Arabic-inspired meals that are rich in nutrients, hydrating and fulfilling, such as dates and hot and cold mezzes. Food is a huge part of Ramadan and the Spinneys team has developed a variety of exciting products that combine traditional Arabic flavours of the region with a modern twist. The Spinneys deli team has been particularly busy developing new ranges that make entertaining at home a little easier. New items, which are now available at deli counters across Spinneys stores in the UAE, include beetroot hummus and freekeh salad with labneh as well as the Guaccumus. From the hot deli counter, customers can indulge in chicken & cauliflower machboos and mutton/lamb maqluba.
Spinneys also has a whole host of limited-edition sweet treats to impress guests with, with many of them being handmade by the Spinneys team especially for Ramadan. A brand new range of Ramadan tartlets is now available in-store in three delicious flavours including fig, date and pistachio and almonds with a golden almond paste. There are also over 20 different types of fresh Arabic sweets to choose from such as kunafa, awama, walnut kathayef, karabeej, balah el sham, sho’aybiyat and luqaimat. All Spinneys bakery products are freshly made and contain no artificial flavours or colours.
