THE RACE IS ON! Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2022 At The Waterfront Market This Weekend!
The Waterfront Market,Dubai’s premier destination for everything fresh, will host the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2022 sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai this weekend on October 8th& 9th.
Over 60 teams will compete in the 200-meterraces which will take place in front of the Waterfront Market promenade throughout the 2-day festival where spectators can cheer on their favourite teams and enjoy the majestic views that the Market’s promenade has to offer. Races will be scheduled throughout the day with racing starting from 9am through to 5pm on both days. The teams will be divided into five race categories: Open, Mixed, Women, Corporate& Community.
Damian Lee, the Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai, said “We are very excited to host the first-ever Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Dubai, forming part of our celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Hong Kong has long been home to the world’s biggest sports events, including our renowned international dragon boat festival. We are thrilled to bring a taste of Hong Kong to the region, and I would encourage racers and spectators to visit our booth during the festival.”

Dragon Boat racing originated 2,500 years ago in China. Dragons, alongside the sun, are traditionally revered in Chinese culture and Dragon Boat racing pays homage to these ancient beliefs.
