Cycling enthusiasts throughout the region prepare for the legendary Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, which will take place later this month.

Taking place on March 26, 2021, the illustrious 92km Race and short course will start and finish at the Dubai International Sports Stadium in Dubai Sports City, taking the region’s thriving cycling community through the streets of the city, with stunning views of the iconic Expo 2020 Dubai grounds, and the ever-famous Global Village.

To help riders get into premium condition, a series of Build-Up Rides took place at the purpose-built Al Qudra Cycle Track in Dubai.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of the participating cyclists, organisers of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge have diligently put together several procedures to guarantee a great race experience, whilst providing a covid-safe environment for the cycling community of Dubai. All athletes will be required to undergo a mandatory temperature check upon arrival at the main area from the parking lot and hand sanitizer stations will be available at all stop points, including both the start and finish lines.

The event will have a limited capacity on entries and staff will also be on-ground to ensure face masks are always worn when riders are off their bikes. With no Fan Village or spectators present this year, cycling enthusiasts can still celebrate their achievements with the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Virtual Race Awards.

Stewart Howison, Race Director, said: “We cannot wait to welcome the region’s thriving cycling community on March26 and watch them as they compete in the famous challenge through the iconic streets of Dubai.

“There has been much anticipation for the 2021 edition of the event. This special edition of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge will focus on delivering a fantastic and memorable experience through a revised athlete service offering, and the inclusion of brand-new sections on the race route through iconic venues that no cyclist has had the opportunity to ride before. Our delivery plan ensures a covid-safe environment, so our budding cycling community can ride the streets of Dubai in a safe and enjoyable manner.”

Held under the auspices of the Dubai Sports Council and in partnership with Spinneys and Dubai 92, the challenge is one of the Middle East’s premium sporting races, regularly attracting thousands of riders from all over the world. The event celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019 with 1,500 cyclists taking part in three Build-Up rides and 2,500 competing in the final race.
