Local Dubai Students Spread the Message of Peace

‘Winchester and Friends in Harmony’ is an initiative launched by two ex-students of The Winchester School, Dubai with the wider message of promoting peace in the world.

One good song with a message can bring a point more deeply to more people than a thousand rallies. The group believes that music has a great power for bringing people together. With so many forces in this world acting to drive wedges between people, it’s important to preserve those things that help us experience our common humanity.

‘Winchester and Friends in Harmony’ have just recorded their version of the Beatles classic ‘Get By With A Little Help From My Friends’. The video can be viewed on YouTube at http://youtu.be/jsxfDyqGRdM

The song was recorded in quick time with the help of their friends from JR Studio. Majid M Hussain, Owner of JR Studio was clearly impressed by the students’ initiative. He stated, “We were deeply honoured to work with the students of Winchester School and their friends. It is not every day that you get the opportunity to work with people who are striving for peace and a better world and it was our pleasure to work with them.”

According to Mustafa Davis who flew down to Dubai from the US to film the song, “Working with the students from ‘Winchester and Friends in Harmony’ for the Peace Day project was a wonderful experience. I was extremely impressed not only with their talent but also the great character they all exuded. It’s rare to meet such a talented group of young adults who are so keenly interested in promoting peace in the world. I look forward to following their careers as I’m sure they are destined to do great things. It was an honor to work with them and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a noble endeavor”.

The Principal of Winchester School, Mrs Ranju Anand is proud of her students’ achievements. In her words, “We have students and staff from over 90 different nationalities. In such a beautiful community, peace and harmony comes naturally and becomes a habit.”

‘Winchester and Friends’ plan to continue their work to bring peace and harmony in their captive communities and change the minds and hearts of people around them.
