Kanz Jewels, one of UAE’s leading and oldest Jewellery brands played host to the blockbuster Bollywood movie – ‘Welcome Back’ as the movie was shot extensively at the store in Dubai Gold Souk, Deira. This was the first Bollywood movie to be shot at Dubai Gold Souq according to Kanz Jewels. Bollywood artists Anil Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia charmed the crowd at the Kanz store and interacted with them post the shoot.

‘Welcome Back’ is an upcoming Bollywood comedy movie directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. It is a sequel to the 2007 comedy Welcome and features an ensemble cast that includes Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor re-enacting their roles respectively from the prequel, along with Paresh Rawal. John Abraham and Shruti Haasan are the new additions to the cast. The film is expected to be released in the month of May 2015.

The movies production team had done a survey in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and they wanted to identify a jewellery story that has the luxurious ambience as required by the movie’s script. They finally selected the Kanz store as its personality perfectly blended with the movie’s requirement.

“We are delighted to have Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Anees Bazmee and the crew among our midst and are proud to be associated with the movie ‘Welcome Back’ as it is the first Bollywood movie to be shot at the Dubai Gold Souq, Deira. Several celebrities have visited our store in the past but this was the first time we shot a scene at the store. It was a great experience for us,” said Anil Dhanak, Managing Director, Kanz Jewels.

In the recent past several celebrities including Hollywood actors Nicholas Cage, Steven Siegal, cricketers – Clive Lloyd, Brian Lara, current South African team captain Hashim Amla, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga and several other cricketers have visited the store. Bollywood artists like Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Gulshan Grover have also visited the store on many occasions.

Anees Bazmee, the Director of the film said that, “We were looking for something unique in the Gold Souk as per the plot in our movie. As per our research we found that this shop had a 63-kilogramme gold ring, which happens to be one of the world’s heaviest gold rings. So we approached Kanz and they agreed to accommodate us and we are delighted to know that we have created a history of sorts by shooting the first ever Bollywood movie in Dubai’s prestigious Gold souk”.
