The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has hosted a consumer awareness workshop in collaboration with the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, and the Transport Activities Monitoring Department at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

Attendees of the workshop, which took place at RTA’s Headquarter, included Waleed Mohammed Nabhan, Director of Transport Activities Monitoring; Abdullah Al Meer, Director of Drivers Affairs at Public Transport Agency; and Ahmed Al Zaabi, Director of Consumer Protection, Corporate Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection Sector of DED and a host of officials from both parties.

Nabhan was delighted with the flourishing cooperation and partnership between RTA and DED as illustrated by this important workshop oriented to taxi drivers. “Taxi ravers form a significant cluster in Dubai, offering service and communicating on a daily basis with broad spectrums of passengers comprising citizens, tourists, and visitors descending on the Emirate from all corners of the globe,” he commented. “Consumer protection has become a strategically important mission undertaken by all government and quasi-government entities. It goes beyond the DED in Dubai to cover cooperation of all community members with the concerned department(s),” noted Nabhan.

“In collaboration with the DED, RTA will host more of these workshops for other categories of RTA employees such as bus drivers, front-end employees at customers’ happiness centers and all staffs dealing with people including visitors and tourists. These employees play a vital role in protecting consumers and raising the consumer awareness of individuals and the community,” he further added.

“We thank RTA for hosting the team and holding this induction workshop; which forms part of our efforts to reach out to the broadest possible segment of community members. Undoubtedly, taxi drivers are part of the priorities of the Corporate Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection Sector of the DED,” said Ahmed Al Za’abi, Director of Consumer Protection, Corporate Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection Sector of DED.
