Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has launched a new initiative focused on improving English communication skills of UAE nationals, residents, and visitors, through an integrated and intensive English language program.

Launching in September 2018, the Intensive English Program (IEP) will offer students of any age and any background the chance to develop their English reading, writing and speaking skills, to help them progress in a personal, professional or educational context.

The program is also an opportunity for international students to improve their English language communication while discovering more about Dubai, as learners joining from overseas can apply for a university-sponsored visa for the duration of the program. This allows students to benefit from the experience of living in a global business, education and tourism destination alongside their language studies.

Program Coordinator, Steve Al Roubaiai, said, “With increasing global mobility, English language has become an essential skill for anyone looking to access international education, advance their career or simply ease and enhance their tourist experience.

“Strong communication skills are especially vital to progress in a professional context and employees in Government and private sector need to make sure that they can understand and be understood when doing business.

“The IEP caters to students at every level, from beginners to those looking to reach high standards of professional communication. As well as meeting the growing demand for English language training from UAE nationals and expats, we are seeing more international students exploring language study overseas. Whether close by in the MENA region, or as far away as China, this program offers an outstanding opportunity for students to develop their English in a safe and culturally diverse environment.”

Each of the IEP program levels involves 20 hours of classes per week over a period of one semester. Students also have unique access to a pen pal system, an extensive English literature reading program and a range of online resources available through state-of-the-art technology. On successfully passing the program, students will be awarded a certificate of completion from Canadian University Dubai.
