Annie. Welcome to Dubai. I am sure you will have a great time here. Most people in Dubai communicate in English and learning Arabic will be a good thing but not a neccessity.
Dubai is absolutely safe and is a City that never sleeps. With so many nationalities here, there are plenty of options to choose from.
I am sure you will enjoy your stay here.
Warning: Accomodation may be a bit difficult to find or may be expensive.
Cheers
Nimi

Hi Annie,
The UAE is defintiely safe, in fact it’s presently got one of the lowest crime rates in the world and hosts over 150 nationalities in one bustling city. Dubai has almost all of the international universities housed in what is called the Knowledge Village, so most of the names you’ve applied to in the US or the UK should be here as well.
English is widely spoken and is one of the main modes used for business, education, banking and entertainment – you won’t have a problem at all.
A good place to familiarise yourself about the city is the web – lots of start up guides on your life in Dubai – but it’s like every other international city in the world.
There are lots of spanish speakers in the region as well; and tapas restaurants and bars, which i’m sure you’ll enjoy.
I hope this helps settle your fears!
Wish you the very best with your stint here…
Best,
Megha

I can’t speak as a student – but, if it helps….Dubai is in my view one of the safest places to live in the world – other than on the roads. It’s a very cosmopolitan and exciting place to live, but can be expensive if you want to enjoy yourself – but, if you are sensisble you will have a great time.

Dubai is lots safer than Guatemala

U.A.E is known to be one of the safest places in the world,
the best thing about dubai ( which is one of the 7 emirates in UAE) , is the multi-cultural atmosphere.
They’ve got great colleges here, such as the knowledge village in dubai.
Its a good thing, to make an effort to learn arabic, it’s considered as an advantage here. English is the main spoken language here though.
Since, we have people from a lot of different nationalities , prounanciation wouldnt be an issue. You’l get used to it.
Party scence’s are crazzy here .lol , that is if ur looking for some fun!.
In all UAE is an amazing place to be , especially dxb(dubai).

Hi, i have been living in Dubai now for about a year and i have found it to be one of the safest countries i have lived in. The crime rate is vertually nill because of such harsh punishment. Everyone basically speaks English over here so there really isnt any language barrier. I am not a student but i am in my early 20’s and am having an absolutely ball over here, the nite life is brilliant and the people over here are fantasic. Apart from the traffic i would have nothing else to complain about. Hope this helps.
ANNIE
