Dubai Sports City were the first-ever Champions of the Tolerance Cup yesterday, with Damac Properties receiving the Silver Cup for 2nd place and Dubai Land Department taking 3rd place after beating Deyaar in a penalty shootout. Friday’s action, which took place at the Football Academy in Dubai Sports City, saw ten football teams battle it out to win the coveted Gold Cup.

“It was an honour for Dubai Sports City to host the “Tolerance Cup” we have witnessed such large scale participation and turnout, not only from corporate organisations, but also from government entities at our inaugural event” said Khalid Al Zarooni, President of Dubai Sports City. “I’d like to congratulate all teams who took part in this event, helping to instil values of tolerance within their thriving communities. By hosting this tournament we’ve demonstrated our commitment to the values of tolerance and we will be looking to host similar events dedicated to our communities again in the future.”

On the sidelines, Dubai Sports City organised plenty of fun-filled activities to keep the fans busy, including a DJ set, freestyle footballer, Year of Tolerance goodies, and lots of prizes, including coaching at the Spanish Soccer School, net hire at the ICC Academy, golf lessons at the Claude Harmon Performance Golf Academy and multi-sport spring camp passes.

In collaboration with DLD through RERA, the inaugural Tolerance Cup was a one-off tournament that brought together government entities, corporate organisations, and the community to mark the 2019 Year of Tolerance.
