The Social Responsibility Department at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, in collaboration with the “Make A Wish” Foundation, organised a special event to fulfil the wishes of children suffering from chronic illnesses on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

The event was held at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai, where five children had their wishes granted in an atmosphere filled with joy and kindness. Each child received special gifts tailored to their wishes, and the event was further brightened by the surprise appearance of beloved cartoon characters Salem and Salama. This gesture not only added to the festive atmosphere but also brought smiles to the children’s faces, providing them with a much-needed respite from their health challenges.

HE Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, emphasised that GDRFA is committed to spreading joy among children facing serious health challenges.

He added that bringing smiles to their faces not only fosters a spirit of unity and solidarity, particularly during religious and national occasions that unite diverse societal groups, but also embodies the values of love and brotherhood.

Al Marri commended the “Make A Wish” Foundation for its vital role in this humanitarian and community initiative, supporting children with chronic diseases and providing them with moments of happiness.

He highlighted that such community initiatives are crucial for strengthening social bonds and enhancing cohesion among community members, adding that this event is an excellent example of Emirati values in action, as it touches the hearts of needy children, offering them moments of joy and enhancing their mental health.

For his part, Hani Al Zubaidi, CEO of Make A Wish Foundation, expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing efforts and support provided by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. He commended its commitment to making a significant positive impact on the lives of sick children, adding that their exceptional community initiatives consistently bring joy and hope to those most in need, along with their families.
