Through An Exhibition Of Unseen Photographs, Warehouse421 Celebrates Memory And History
From November 19-21, audiences are invited to explore their world through the launch event of Warehouse421 which will present a programme of national, regional and international artists, designers and musicians through exhibitions, workshops, performances and cuisine.
Three key exhibitions will be previewed at this time, presenting themes of memory and transformation, two elements which play a strong part in the growth and establishment of Abu Dhabi. Through the exhibition, Lest We Forget: Emirati Family Photographs 1950-1999 the UAE’s history is revisited through a series of never before seen photographs dating back from the 1950s.
A fourth exhibition Art: Process & Practice will showcase works from the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship program presenting individual procedures of creating and making art.
Dr. Michele Bambling, Creative Director of ‘Lest We Forget’ – a pioneering educational and creative enterprise recently launched under the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation – says: “Lest We Forget: Emirati Family Photographs 1950-1999, the exhibition, and its accompanying book and archive, present a unique exploration of Emirati vernacular photographs through memory and creative expression.”
