Yesterday (16th December, 2007) I went to the Deira Municipality health clinic, Dubai for my Medical Test (Blood Test) for the purpose of Residence Visa on behalf of Al-Futtaim Group. As per the instruction of the officials there, at around 1:45 P.M. one Lab Technician took my blood sample at the counter no. 7 (Just in front of the reception counter). My coupon no. was 1449.

Just before he was ready to take my blood I saw that the syringe he was using was not sealed and at a glance I saw that some amount of blood was stick to it. Suddenly I could not tell him anything and before I could protest he pushed the syringe into me.

But following that, I have been suffering from too much agony and worry. Can anybody please write to me why this kind of unsafe behavior is practiced in a place like Dubai? And if anything negative or any infection happens to me who will be responsible for the same. Whom will I catch and how?

This I could not expect from a place like Dubai and that’s the reason why I could not even say anything to the Lab Technician who was attending me yesterday.

Anyways after around 3 months from now, I will do a blood test for HIV again to check whether anything happened to me and also report to the world regarding this unsafe behavior from a medical professional in a Government Health Clinic. Waiting for your comments regarding this unfortunate incidence I came across.
